The BLBOD is Not Government
[04/11/2002] [Corbin] Emotions run deep these days. I have heard calls for IKBODs, Amtgard Senates, and Circles of Monarches. These calls usually involve talk of governing the game, fairly representing the kingdoms equally, and other charged notions of natural law and human destiny. That is all good, but it does not address the issue. The issue here is the function of the BLBOD. The BLBOD has committed inexcusable Trespasses Against Amtgard by being delinquent and inadequate in its functioning. I do not care to fathom the reasons behind these actions or in-actions. It is only important to lay them out so that they may be seen clearly by all. To address this issue, Amtgard does not need any new institution. Amtgard does not need extra bureaucracy. Amtgard simply needs to shoulder the current responsibilities of the BLBOD. This requires some coordination on the parts of the BODs to come together. The technology that is available now for free to anyone with internet access will close the geographic gaps. In conclusion, a clear message must be sent to the kingdoms of Amtgard. We are gamers and we love to make rules, but we must temper our urges to elaborate and focus our efforts on the simplest path forward.
