Horoscope: Cancer
[07/28/2004] [Sage]New Moon in Cancer July 17, 2004; 6:24am CDT; Austin, TX. New Moon: 25*13' Cancer. The new moon takes place late in the sign of Cancer, just before sunrise in the Central time zone. Saturn has just risen, and Mars and Mercury will be along within two more hours. As we know, new moons are always a time of new beginnings, however with the conjunction occurring so late in the sign this time, it's a case of needing to let go of the old before we can embrace the new. In the context of the sign of Cancer, this should be read in context of the home, emotional security, maternal issues, and self-nurturance. Health issues may be a major concern this month. Women in positions of authority may find themselves under significantly greater stress than usual, and this is likely to manifest in ill health. Three weeks after the New Moon, Mercury will be turning retrograde. As we know, Mercury retrograde is a time when all matters ruled by Mercury (communication, travel, reservations, memory, modes of transport, telephones, computers, email, etc.) go wonky. From a personal standpoint, it's a time for going back and reevaluating old decisions, finishing old business, and looking up old friends that have fallen out of contact. From a professional standpoint, it's a time to reconfirm every reservation, date, and doctor's appointment in triplicate, to keep your receipts, to avoid installing new software, and to plan presentations with extra care. From an interpersonal standpoint, it's a time to make double sure that you and the people in your life are communicating clearly. False assumptions run rampant during this time and create a great many needless arguments. Needless to say, it's an excellent time to cultivate extra patience and compassion. Mercury will be retrograde from August 9 to September 2. In other areas of life, Mars is offering a heady dose of energy to dreamy Neptune. This is excellent for manifesting creative ideas, if you can harness the self-discipline to do more than only talk them out with friends. It's a great time for testing new plans and asserting new control over the way others perceive you. It's a complicated month for partnership. There's a strong potential for conflict between co-workers, business partners, and couples. Most of the trouble is likely due to something like a simple exaggeration being taken out of context and blowing up into an enormous, self-righteous struggle for control. Loving compassion is both the prevention and the cure. Again, be sensitive to power issues, cultivate as much patience as you can muster, and be willing to let go of the old, outworn things in your life, so you can make room for the new. The New Moon in Leo will occur August 15th.
